Default AC PROBLEM...........

When i turn on the AC, the drivers side is alot colder, than the passenger side. The passenger side blows warm air. Anyone knows what could be causing the problem?

You probably would have noticed this, but do you have dual climate control?

Nope. I don't have dual climate control. It's a 02 dodge ram QC 1500.

It is possible that your 2002 Quad Cab was built wrong from the factory, but you would have noticed it 4 years ago. Has your hvac unit been replaced or repaired in the past?

Nope. When i got it, it worked fine. Now it blows warm air on the passenger side, while the driver side is real cold.

Hey Paul, just a question. But if it was the heater core, wouldn't it effect both the driver's side, as well as the passenger side?

I noticed the same thing with my '05, wish i could get my hands on a cheap tech manual for the truck. It acts like a door or something inside the a/c is staying closed then it pops open and both drivers and passenger sides blows cold air, i do not have dual climate control. Another thing is that it does it for a longe rperiod with it on recirculate. And my biggest grip is that it takes forever to start cooling down. My 02 or 03 did not do this. For some odd reason my 05 takes forever to start cooling down, and living in the south were the temp is already 90+ and with leather seats this is not good. My dealer can not find out why it takes so long either. After its been running for around 14 to 16 minutes it blowing ice cold air, my only guess is that one of the air temp sensors, either under the hood or by the evaporator is giving the computer the wrong temp..Off subject..check to make sure all your dampner doors are fully closing and that they are not blocked. One good thing to do is to remove the fan/blower assembly, under the pass side dash board 4 bolts i think. And feel around in there to check for leaves or what ever, you would be surprised what gets sucked in there.

u have a point. but maybe the heater core is just clogged up enough to get real hot and not burst. so in theory, its putting excess heat on that side. Or it could be the blend door is stuck in the dash, which is letting hot air in as well. Regardless, something needs to fixed soon. because it could prevent a large problem. In would talk to a local mechanic and see what they say. Just my 2 cents..

good luck man,

Paul
