Most of the 3/4 - 1 ton trucks are made in a plant in mexico. My half ton (sitting on a railroad car in Indiana as I type) was made in Michigan. Apparently dodge has plants in a few different places for their trucks.
Mine was built in Stlouis. 06 SB RC Hemi 2WD

And please tell me your kidding about the gear pattern.
How petty is that?
Ya it's really tough to learn to go down and left rather than up and right.
Gee, considering that's about backasswards as far as how a normal shifter works.....thats not petty at all. It's a legitimate gripe, especially if your a normal stick driver like myself. I've never driven a car with that kind of shift pattern. I've been in a couple of cars like that as a passenger...but we're talking a half dozen since I was 10 yrs old....

As for the rest, every vehicle has its own personal quirks. Arrowman hit it dead on, not every vehicle rolls off the line perfect, despite the identical build process. There's always the possibility of minor defects in anything that is produced. It's unfortunate.

Remember, the beauty of owning a vehicle is that you can make it yours. You can modify it and make it better/worse then it was when you bought it. I think you have some good ideas for things you want to do to make it suit you better. There's no harm in it.

It's also fair for him to voice his unhappy opinion on things. Remember fellow board members, legit honest complaints are one thing that helps to keep the car industry constantly improving/fixing things. He bought his Ram and loves it for the most part. He's entitled to dislike somethings....I love my car, but I wish Dodge had put a more powerful engine in it....

If I havent said it yet, Welcome to DF cyclone429! Enjoy your stay, hopefully you can find some help in fixing those issues and getting this truck to where you cant go without driving it at least once a day [8D]

Heys guys,

The tranny came out of the Mercedes-Betz commercial truck market. It a stronger tranny, if a change in shift pattern is all it takes---so what--get used to it.

How many people still try to shift their spouses automatic, when they first jump in. Its happened to me many times. The first time I did it, I nearly put my wife and I through the windshield when I stomped on the brake pedal thinking it should have a cluth pedal
It's all a matter of getting used to something new.

owners manual, confusing me...their are two types of manual transmissions, made by getrage...now I don't know what manual tranny I have, I was under the rig for a good 45 min yesterday and I'm surprised how big the manual transmission is, thier was a sticker on the transmission with the build date and place birth, I don't recall the code on the transmisson or were it was built... are booth made by MB. and s one better than the othier or is the letter in the code reflective of were the trans was built?

I have the electric shift 4x4 which I have not used, their is a indicator for 2wd 4 lock, 4 low and N...Now is four the lock the same as four HI?, any chance thier are lockers on the front axle? ( not a power wagon ) rear is a 373 LTD slip, all the chrysler bible says is if your in 4 lock or 4 low booth F Drive shaft and R drive shaft turn =...

I also question if the EX is the same as a 5.7 in the 1500, I drove some hemi 1500's last year and the used quad cab ( 05 ) this year, booth sounded mean, this 2500 is strangly quiet at idle, No complaints...Thiers a grand total of 000 100 km on the truck now the truck and thank the lord for a solid axel up front and no more cv jointed 4x4.

Now the white faced instrumentation, yes I took this into account when I bought the truck, and I wounder if any one knows of any aftermarket kits to turn it back to the way dodge used to build them before they turned white, I don't like it and at night the instermintaion is the same as looking at a Timex indaglo watch....

So far I don't even look at the gauges when I drive, and I booked an pointment to get the lose interior pieaces fixed......

Lock just means the front shaft and back shaft are locked together...in other words they both spin the same no matter what. That's why it's bad to drive the truck on pavement in 4wd...there is no slippage. Not sure why it's labeled as 4 lock though. I haven't been in a 3rd gen, but all the 2nd gens just say 4HI (even though it also locks the shafts). I miss the times when the full size trucks had differentiated transfer cases...and you could run them on the road in 4wd without worry. [>:]

The 2500s & 3500s never had the independant front suspension. No torsion bars...no cv joints. They've been solid axle (when 4wd) since...well...FOREVER And that's just the way it should be
