Backend shocks were totally compressed and it sand is a pain in the *** to clean out of the bed.


As i was spraying it out with the carwash hose, bedliner lifed a little and there is sand and stone underneath the liner now?


Do you guys think its important for me to get that cleaned out? Which means taking off the bedliner and then washing the sand. Im not really lazy as much as i am restricted on free time.

Do i need to make an effort to get this done, free is tiny sand and stone scratching under the bed and then super rust.

Honestly, yes...I'd make the effort and yank up the bedliner. If you just noticed this now...what's to say what else may have gotten under there already. You could already have issues with damage to the bed or rust. I'd also suggest looking at a new bedliner or at the least...finding a better way to secure what you got now....

 

Same thing happened with my 02 dakota and the bed looked like it was sandblasted after a few years of not cleaning the dirt and sand

Thats why I bought the Line-X. If you don't spray it out, its not the end of the world. I had a drop in liner in previous trucks. Even if you haul nothing, the liner will still scratch all the way to bare metal and rust. Drop in liners suck period. They do more damage then saving.

 

I went with Armacote Armaliner (thicker than line-x or Rhino Liner) and a plastic bedliner. That solved all my problems...

 

Why waste money on 2 liners? Also thicker isn't always better. My Line-X is a little thinner than my friends Rhino but mine has seen more gravel, dirt, sand, metal & junk and is in better shape than his. I have only had to have the dealer touch up once. Where I ran the shovel point into the liner (small spot 1/4" long). Not trying to bash you, just wondering why.

 

yeah dude, yank that liner out and clean under it. Its not worth the cost in the long run. You can spend an afternoon one weekend cleaning out your bed and dropping the liner back in or, you spend a week with a cheap *** rental car while your truck is in the shop getting your damn truck fixed. Its worth the effort man.

The wife is a real pain in the a$$ with the garden stuff. She make me mess up my baby all the time. I bought my trucks to tow my camper, not to move South Carolina to North Carolina.

I got tired of pulling up (or out) the liner, or vacuuming hoping I got it all -so I have a two prong attack :

I went to Homie D and bought a tarp big enough to hang over all four walls of the bed. I tried to use bungee cords on the eyeholes, but they came loose so I just used a shear to cut them all off. The dude at the landscaping place does his best to drop mulch or topsoil in the center of the bed.

I put some duct tape down temporarily. I dont press it down too hard and if any glue is left over, I just dampen a rag with prep-sol to rub it off. But most of the time, the tape will come right off when Im using the car wash pressure hose to rinse residual out.

Dual protection -- Now if your a yankee relocated to the south as I am, You may need to take alot of crap from your friendly (but wise a$$) southern neighbors [8D]

Works great for me clean up is a breeze and there is almost no "stuff" in the bed. I know its a truck, but they are expensive and what the hell why not try to take care of it ....


I was thinking about putting velcro between there.

 

thx for the advice fellas, i went ahead and took the liners off and washed the sand out. Although i must say - i just used the hose, i probably should have polished/soaped out the bed, but figured just getting the sand out was good enough. There was a ton under neath the liner, in about 2years or so, i will probably go line-x or rhino.

I have line-x sprayed on my rocker panels, check my gallery. anyway after the better part of a year and a half of rocks and other crap being slung at it from the tires it still looks new
