I recently bought a Ram 2500 QC 4x4 Hemi. I was told by the dealer that this truck has the mds engine. The only information I can find on the net talks about the 1500 being the only truck with this system. Does anyone know if the multi-displacement engine is only in the 1500 truck and cars? The dealer said that all 2006 Hemi's are the mds.

I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT ONLY THE 1500 MODELS HAVE THE MDS, IF I WERE YOU I WOULD LOOK ON LINE AT THE DODGE WEB SITE. ITS TOO BAD WHEN DEALERS DONT KNOW WHAT THEIR TALKING ABOUT.

 

The dealer was clueless and looking to make the sale. The 1500's are the only rams with the MDS system. The 2500's & 3500's only have the standard Hemi. The MDS is too weak to push such a heavy truck, it would always be in the 8 cyl mode.

 

No mds on the 2500, if you get a six sp manual, mileage is not that bad, I'm averging 16 to 18 with my 2500 reg cab 4x4, now this is acording to the overhead mini console, so it might be out of wack, when your towing with the 1500 the mds is off, when your doing truck stuff, the mds is off, when you drive like your truck is a car, mds is on...
So buy a truck, or buy a car, or just aviod the mds all togethier...if hemis were to had with manual transmissions in the 1500, this would save more flue than MDS ...
