Default Thinking of buying a novi 1200 kit from GS Motorsports..

So I was wondering … I have an 06 Dodge ram 1500 QC 4X2 Hemi…. And am thinking of getting a Novi 1200 kit from GS Motorsports…. Has anybody had any experiences with them?… I really want reliability and longevity… the kit only puts out like 7 pounds of boost… let me here some thoughts on this?… I did a search and really did not come up with much for the 2006 Ram’s with a Hemi…. They said that they have had this kit out since 03…. Have the Hemi motors changed?… I know they have the MDS… but will they still bolt on the same…and this kit comes with its own computer…. Thoughts??… [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

I don't think I like these superchargers cause of the type of supercharger it is. This type of SC hits boost at like 4500-5000RPM. And the redline of a Ram can only be set to 6100RPM so you are barely going to see alot of the power for a long time. If our trucks could rev to around 6500RPM then it would be better but they won't. Sure your truck can make alot of power over 400HP but you won't see any of that power under 4000RPM. You can make over 375HP with bolt-on's if you are willing to pay 4k where as the supercharger system will cost around 6k

4K worth of bolt on's?... I thought superchargers hit boost right away?... unlike a turbo where you have to build exhaust pressure.... I really just want it to be different... and make the truck fun... I am guessing this will be a huge seat of your pants different right??....

Well some superchargers do it boost at like 2500RPM like a roots type but the GSM supercharger is centrifical-style supercharger which requires higher RPM levels to hit boost. With bolt-on's like big cam with supporting modd's and tuning, headers, ported heads, CAI, exhaust, a 50shot of nitrous, and 4.10gears. Thats over 400HP and you are in the 12's for the 1/4mile. All for around 4k maybe $4750.

The turbo can hit full boost at 2500 rpm's while the centrifugal supercharger will only hit full boost above 5K and then your truck will shift into the next gear. Below are some recent post on the supercharger.

If you decide on a turbo let me know. I have a slighty used one for sale. You can reach me at jxv254@yahoo.com

SRT-10 killer How was driving the Hemi before and after the STS turbo ... and did the tune come with it??.... I really want something that I can just bolt on and go... no tunning problems.... just leave the boost at 6-8 lbs and put 100,000 miles on it.... have you had any trouble with your set up?... and I take it by your sig that all you did is the turbo swap?... no injectors, TB, head work, cams?... I don't think they make a kit for the 2006?......thanks!!

I loved it from day one but it was running lean from the start and the only reason why I had no problems was because I also had an intercooler and water/methanol injection. There was no tune with the STS kits in fact they are sold now as tuner kits. I devoloped I solution by using a piggyback system a friend suggested and installing bigger injectors and map sensor. Finding the correct size injectors and tuning for them was the expensive part. The dyno to tune costed me $150 an hour but now those who wish to do it have it easier since I can get them a kit just like mine with a start up tune. You will still need to adjust the tune to your particular truck but once that is done you can leave it alone for the next 100K miles as you put it.

I do not have headers, cam, CAI, cutouts or any of those type of mods just the turbo with the larger injectors and put out 413rwhp at 7psi in 2nd gear with 23" wheels. BTW the 413 was with the 9th injector cr@p and runing lean. I have not dynoed again but I am sure I picked up more power because it was hurting for more fuel.

The kit will bolt to the 06 the same as other models but I would suggest flashing the MDS out of the pcm or switching to the 05 style lifters if you run into any problems.
