Q with superchips and mileage
I have a 02 QC 1500 ram with the gas guzzler 5.9 in it. Im currently getting 10mpg with 35"tires and 6"lift and was wondering what kind of inprovement you guys using the superchips on 87 economy setting are getting. Anyone that has used one please let me know the mpg inprovment you are getting over stock. Thanks
Your problem isnt with gears or the programing, your running a truck with a large lift and big tires and a big engine and for fuel effiency thats a bad combo, I dont think you'd ever be able to get much higher than maybe 11 or 12 if your lucky. The tuner will do some for it to increase maybe a half a mile to a mile with your set up, a good exhaust system (more than just a flowmaster welded inplace) may give you another half mile to a mile maybe, and a CAI might give you an extra half. The gears, if I understand from previouse posts, will make it easier to turn the tires with less power to turn them but dont quote me on that cause Im not 100% sure on it, but hey good luck!
i have a 2002 5.9 quadcab 1500 also, but i put 4.56s in as soon as i got it (thanks guys for the info) and i went from 9-10 around town to ~13-14 with gears, a cai and a flowmaster setup i get 16-18 on the highway (waiting for my superchipsto come in...doubt its gonna get much better tho)
Damn you got 3-4 more miles per gallon with gears!! How much are they and were did you get them? If it really inproves that much I would rather do that than trying to do a swap or get rid of my truck.
