solution to crappy '06 shocks
Hey all, I think I have found a TEMPORARY solution to the wimpy shocks installed on the '06s. I know some members have stated they think they are fine, but others, including myself have expressed the feeling of "boating" down the road and are frustrated with the lack of any after market shocks out there yet. I installed a set of Coil Spring Rubber Stabilizers on my front coil springs and it has added a little quicker response and has eliminated at least 50% of the "boating". Part number 55467 from JC Whitney. Put about 70 miles on the truck today and found it to be a help. I'm sure this not a total fix, but maybe it will keep us a little happier until Bilstein or KYB comes through this fall. NOTE: I did not remove the springs to install...just installed them between the rungs in the coil. For you Nascar fans "in the know", these are like the spring rubbers, only they are a complete donut. Cost $20.00 plus shipping.
i`ve been having the same problem with those crappy shocks. i`m just wondering if it`s the shocks or the springs that are the problem. i`d like to get some bilstein shocks when there available if it will make any type of difference. the rear of the truck is overly strong and the front floats like a boat....these are crap should of got a 4x4
Thanks but I think I will wait for Bilstein to come out with their product. To sabs hemi makes no difference, I have the QC 4x4. Same same. The front shocks particularly are calibrated too soft. I dont think it is a quality issue as much as a poor choice by the production team. My theory is that most people take short low speed test drives. Their marketing people say folks are most likely to buy a smooth ride so they under damp the suspension. "Market tuning" if you will.
