Default WARRANTY WORK

Well the truck finally sees its first real warranty work, now at 29,100+ miles. I keep getting the check engine light, and for a while, I'd check it with the scanner, Po457---
gas cap loose, so I'd tighten it down real good, and erase the code. Last week, the same, and it came on again. I tightened the cap down almost to the point that I nearly couldn't undo it to fill up. MIL comes back on. I dropped it off tonight, they are great people to work with, so far, and I got to drive a purple mini-van home for a loaner---not the greatest, but hey, its wheels---I'm not complaining!!!!!

I'm also having them listen to a growl coming from the clutch area when I lug away from a stop. may be normal, but they'll have a chance to listen to it anyway. This thing has a dual mass flywheel which is new to me, so it may be nothing.

I'll post back when I find out the details tomorrow.

What did the service people do to solve the recurring PO457 error code?

Turns out that wire had come loose from the harness, and had rubbed in two. This caused the charchol Canister solenoid not to fire, so no vacuum on the tank. They soldered it back together, tucked and tied in back in and no problems since

You can also get this code if the gas cap is loose, and/or the rubber connector lines for the evap system are getting rotted/cracked/dried out. I plan to replace mine with silicone ones this coming summer. Haven't had any problems since the wire incident, but its a known "thing" with these trucks.
