Personal Turtle Wax Ice Review
So I figured it was time to wax my truck, being that the last time I actually did that was last August, shortly after I bought it. I have seen the commercials and heard the word of mouth about Turtle Wax Ice, so I decided that I, too, would give it a try.
First things first, according to the bottle this stuff is a "synthetic liquid polish", and it comes with an applicator and microfiber towel. I've read some other reviews that say that ICE gives their vehicle one of the best "wet" or "oily" glosses they have ever seen, but it doesn't last for more than a few weeks. Those who are serious about protecting their paint job seem to be using ICE, then adding a coat (or two) of a conventional wax.
I decided that I would try ICE, then add a layer of Mother's Pure Carnauba to seal it up. So I washed the truck with a car wash concentrate, dried it off and let it sit for about 30 minutes, and went to work with the ICE.
ICE feels like a diluted oil, and I didn't really get much of a hazing effect when I applied it (or at least not like a conventional wax). One thing to note is that you will not use much product at all in coating your vehicle, as it is very thin. Again, this stuff feels like a polish more than a wax. I made extra sure to totally wipe the truck dry so that the ICE would not interfere with the coming layer of carbauba.
Next, I did a coat of Mother's Pure Carnauba. After standing back and looking at the final job, I am pretty happy. My truck really does have that wet/oily look to it, which I think looks really nice for dark paint jobs. If anything "odd" comes up I will pass it along. I'm not a photographer, but here are a few pics I snapped for show and tell.
2005 Ram 1500
Quad Cab
SLT
4x4 with floor shifter
5.7L Hemi
Over-the-rails Line-X
Totally debadged (including the pin stripe)
Other than that... stock everything!
Behold!

I used ICE as well and as you stated, the polish didn't seem to last very long.
IF you don't mind I think I'm going to steal your idea. My truck is garaged if it's not being driven (which isn't much).

I am with you. I love turtle Wax Ice. I applied it to the plastic parts (bumbers, door handles, etc,) and it made them look better than new! I even used it on the tires with good results. In my case, it really streaked the chrome though.
Hey, may sound a bit crazy but I always wax all my windows.....actually helps with water spots, bugs and easier to clean. In the winter you can almost drive without the wipers if you wax the windshield really well the water beads up and on the freeway slides right off the glass.

personally ICE is a good wax but Mequiars NXT wax worked the best for me. comes off extremely clean with no swirl marks or anything. just poured out today and its like the rain never touched the hemi!
everyone listen....ice isnt a wax or a polish. Its just detail spay like meguires quik detailer. You just use it for wiping off light dirt and stuff instead of washing it. I use it too, but it isnt wax. I just like it cuz it works, easy to use, and smells good.
