Help cat back or muffler only ?
I need help I can't decide on what to do I have an 06 with MDS and need input from anyone with an 06 and have done exhaust work .what im worried about is I have read that the MDS makes cat back systems sound crappy when it kicks in any help is great .
I have never heard that about the MDS, but have not read up on it too much. Definatley could make sense though. But if it would happen with a cat-back it would probably happen with just a muffler I would think. The muffler causes the most drastic change in tone, so the rest of the pipes don't have THAT much of an effect on the sound.
With that said, I would only go with the muffler (which I did). The price of a cat-back is way more then the power returns, IMO. Personally, I was only looking for the sound, not really the performance gain. So, for $170 I had the 40 Series from Flowmaster installed and it sounds great.

The MDS will make the exhaust sound different. When it kicks in, it sounds like your in 5th gear going 20 mph...and trying to accelerate. If you put a free'er flowing exhaust, you will hear it. Right now, i think the resonator is keeping it quiet.
i have a 2006 hemi with a magnaflow muffler and an airaid intake. it definitely sounds like **** when the mds kicks in but only at lower speeds. if you travel on a large highway around 70-75mph you won`t hear a thing. i went with just the magnaflow muffler and cut out both resonators. it sounds perfect. my buddy has the 40 series flowmaster and it`s way too loud for my taste
