Default RE: Whats unique about a Hemi?

Read about the 426 Hemi, its history, and the men who made it happen:

if you are in a hurry skip through the Jay Leno part in the begining and go down to where the interview with Tom Hoover starts.

IVCF
that stands for 'Inclined Valve Cross Flow'
same number of letters as 'HEMI'
but doesn' have that 'Advertising Jingle' hook to it.

The main thing about a IVCF (or HEMI) cylinder head design
is that the little piece of metal between the intake and exhaust valves
can be made stronger, tougher and able to take high heat at high horsepower.

If you own a 2003-2006 modern 5.7 V8 DCx engine
you should be thankful that it is a well designed IVCF
and not a true "Hemi"
