Changing Rim Sie (20 to 17)
Ok.. here's the dilly... I keep reading how everyone is changing from 20 inch rims to 17 inch rims. Why is this? My neighboors dad wants to swap me for my 17 inch rims on his dodge with the 20 inch rims. I'd like to see his rims before I agree to anything. It just seems like a lot of peeps have swapped out for the smaller rims and I'm trying to figure out why. Anyway.. what are your thoughts and opinions? If I get the 20's, what do I have to do to get my speedo adjusted? Will this void the warranty on my driveline? What's it cost to have the speedo adjusted? Looking forward to some input....

I went with 17's on mine because:
1.the weight is less
2.there are more tire choices
3.ride quality is way better
4.less expensive to replace if you mess one up
5.tire choices can be less expensive than the 20"
6.and IMO, they look better.
Try finding a set of 33" tires for the 20" wheels!
I got a set of four stock chrome wheels off of Ebay for $150 in pristine condition. Can you find 20" wheels for that price?

It also depends on what you want to turn your truck into, if you want a more off road truck go with the 17's cause you can rarely find an alteraine tire for 20" rims, if your looking for more of a street/performance truck go with the 20's and change the tires to a high rated speed tire (prefferably "v" rated at the least) and you can buy them for 20's for 149-179 depending on what brand you go with and you can normally find them with fairly thin-thick sidewalls, I preffer my Nitto's on my 20's over an alterain tire just because of the performance and smoother ride I get from them. They give your truck better handling/grip and an all together smoother ride. But if you just want a daily driver then go with either.......

I dumped my 20's because I just don't like 20" wheels... I'm not a pimp.
If you are trying to build a "street truck" then the 20's are fine, but I just don't like them... Plus there is the fact that when you need new 20" tires, $$$$$$
EDIT: Also this has NO bearing on your warranty. And to calibrate your speedometer, you will need to take it to the dealer.
