Removing Hemi Emblems
I assume that is part of the Debadging thread, but can't get into that thread like so many others on this forum. Explorer just aborts and I can't access. Anyway I want to remove my Hemi Emblems on the front fenders so that I can add fender flares to my truck. Will "Goo-Gone" or some other such concoction help remove the sticky back tape without harming the paint? Anyone use Bushwacker Pocket Style fender flares?
In the detail shop at the dealership I work at, they always just use a simple adhesive remover. Pour some directly on it, or on a soft cloth and rub until the stuff is gone. A quick detailer or body shine spray wax should clean off the excess. Make sure that after you're done that you've removed all the remover. You might also want to check around for different removers, the ones our detail shop uses come from an automotive chemical company, (here's a link to the product Malco Adhesive Remover.) As far as goo gone, I've never used it myself, so you might want to check if it is safe with automotive finishes. Hope this helps you out some.

turtle wax bug and tar remover will work good too.
most take dental floss and remove as much of the emblem as possable, then use something to remove the glue afterwards.

drew is right about the turtle wax bug and tar remover it works great just takes some time to get it all off, and dont pull of the emblem just saw it off with some dental floss or fishing string and then work the adhesive and residue off, its quite easy once you get it going
3m also makes a great remover for its own product.... a little expensive but well worth it

dental floss is good but make shure that you either heat it up with a heat gun or park you truck in the sun before you do it. it makes taking the emblems off alot easier. atleast that is what i found out when debadging. i took off the RAM 1500 and all off the tailgate. found that the side that the sun was hiting was alot easier to remove.
p.s. alot of elbow grease

Thanks folks for all the great information, especially the dental floss/fishing line one. I was wondering if there was a way to get behind the emblem without marring the finish. Thats one I never would have thought of on my own. I know you probably have gone over this stuff before in "Debagding", and I appreciate you doing it one more time for me. Thanks
