Hello all.

I bought one of those Extang Black max cover's and it looks great. I have one problem though. The tailgate protector on the 06's is different than the older ones and it is thicker and when you close the tailgate it pushes up on the rear bar and deforms the rubber weatherstripping on the bar. Have any of you had this problem?

As a matter of fact I did! Before I bought my Snug Lid, I had the thing removed. Screw holes were filled in and tail gate painted. Snug fits perfect.

 

Thats one wa to get it done. Only problem with that is I like the looks of it. I guess I could put some bed rails on it.

 

I like my Black Max, too. It has held up well the last couple of months and keeps the bed, and my stuff, bone dry. I don't have the tailgate problem you have though as mine is an 04.
