Default lowering kits

I used the search, but didn't find clear answers. I have a 04 1500 QC ram 4.7 L. I was thinking about dropping it, or leveling it. How much does this typically cost, all things considered. Also I have nerf bars, would I have to take those off? thanks for helping out a new guy
