Default Curious about gear swap? $$$

whats a good gear for the 20's and 33' tires and stock 3.92, my dad wants a approx. price quote for a new gear setup i was thinking 4.10, but i thought again and 3.92-->4.10 aint enough so maybe 4.56? whats that gonna cost and will the axles still be anti-spin. and just higher ratio

well, I have the 4.7 2wd and 4:56's are near perfect. You have a 4WD and 33" is not to large of a tire since you have the bigger engine. I would not go any lower than 4:56's but I would very seriously consider 4:88's. You might want to do lot's of research. If it were a Jeep I would say 4:56's but then you have more unsprung weight.
I didn't know they made 33's for 20's?

You need to take your transmission gearing and tire hight into consideration when chosing gears.

Get that information and do the math:

1) Find over all gear ratio
Rear Gear x Transmission Gear = OVERALL GEAR RATIO

2) Figure out your RPMs at speed useing your OVERALL GEAR RATIO

Speed x OVERALL GEAR RATIO x 336 / Tire Hight = RPMs

Did you do the math? His overdrive gear is (.67) Do the math and let us know what you find out... Also RIM size does NOT matter... just the tire outside diameter.
