Electric Brake Controler
My truck is 4 days old and it is time to start thinking about an electric brake controler I have been looking at the Tekonsha Prodigy controler My old silverado had a Tekonsha Digitrac II and it was ok but i have heard great things about the Prodigy. The biggest thing I like is the ability to unplug it and move it to another vehicle since it has a disconnect instead of wires coming out of the box. The only problem i am having is deciding where to mount the bracket for the controler I was thinking by my right knee but i dont want it to get in my way and since the dash goes down to the cupholder on the 40-20-40 seat i cant mount it there. I was also thinking about using velcro to mount the pocket bracket so i dont have to put any holes in the pretty new dash. Has anyone installed a brake controler more specific the Prodigy? And if so how and where did you mount it.
Sorry for the long post. Thanks for any and all replys!

Try e-bay or even a general internet search for brackets for the prodigy. You might be surprised by the number of bracket adapters that are out there for specific applications.
I mounted my brake controller on the right side above my knee and bought a AutoZone special. It took about 2 hours to install and works fine. The only thing I do not like is it has a led light that stays on constantly even when the truck is off. Not really a problem but just annoying. It changes colors when you apply the brakes and it steps the powere going to the trailer brakes.
I would second the Tekonsha electric brake controller.
The most common spot for the brake controller is at the right knee bolster, but with a little fiberglass, bondo, and paint; you can make a custom bracket to mount anywhere and make it look stock.

I installed a Prodigy on my 2002 Ram in less than an hour. Went to the local parts house and ordered the $13 harness and plugged it into the factory installed tow package wiring located just behind the e-brake pedal under the dash. No cutting or splicing any wires! As for mounting, I used the provided mounting bracket/pocket and placed it on the removable dash panel located below the steering column. After marking the mounting location on the panel, I only had to remove 2 screws which allowed me to remove the factory panel and drill 2 small mounting holes. Mounted up the bracket and replaced the panel. The Prodigy fits very nicely in this area, the wires are concealed, and the unit is within reach for adjustments. Best part is I can unplug the harness from the back of the Prodigy and keep it out of sight when not in use.

I have mine mounted in a similiar manner as the above posts. Regardless of the mounting, by all means get the Prodigy, I've used some of the others, and there is no comparision in the performance. The Prodigy cannot be beat for smoothness and simplicity of adjustment.

Thanks for all the input yall. I ordered my Prodigy last night and it should be here by Friday. I plan on using Velcro to hold the Pocket to the spot under the steering wheel by my right knee. I think the Velcro will work good it is good quality sticky stuff. I dont really want to drill holes unless i have to. I went ahead and ordered the Direct harness for the Dodge. And since my dad wants to borrow my trailer some i got an extra mount kit for his f250 and an extra pocket for him. When i install i will take pics.
Here is my new Prodigy installed. From my short testdrive it is way better than my old digitrac. Threw a pic of the truck in also. I love this truck more every day. almost 500 miles on it and I am READY to TOW.
