Don't spray a direct shot of water on any of the electronic components. That's about it.
What I like to do is get a degreaser or what ever you want you use, but make sure that it is aluminum safe. I spray everything down, let it sit for a few minutes, wipe most of the areas down with a cloth or nylon bristle brush if need be and hose off. After that, I start it up and let everything dry out. After it is dry and cool, I apply a vinyl conditioner to all the plastic stuff. Avoid getting it on the belt or pulleys.
If you do a search, somone did a write up on a more thorough procedure and gave before and after pics.
