I'm going to install my cold air intake tomorrow and I heard that you should reset it every time you change something . Does anyone know if this is true and if so how ?

 

Well without a programmer you will need to pull the positive battery cable off for a few minutes. As for is it needed? I do not know.

 

I recently installed a catback flowmaster system and airaird CAI. Prior to resetting the computer I noticed a power decrease. After resetting the PCM it restored the power I lost and even seems to pull harder now.

On the 03 it is fuse 19, fuse 23 on 04 and maybe 05. Look on the fuse box cover and look for the fuse that corresponds to the PCM. Pull the fuse, turn the ignition on (do not start), wait for chimes to stop, turn ignition back off and replace fuse.

This is better than pulling the cables as you won't have to reset he time and all the radio pre-sets!

 

When you just pull the fuse and turn the key to on, I don't think it will reset the pcm. The chimes you hear are the driver seat belt chimes.

Disconnecting the batter will not reset it.

I always pull the fuse, then buckle the selt belt, then turn the key to start and hold it there until you hear a chime, if you continue to hold it you will hear a second chime. The first one is the pcm, the second is the tcm.

 

So I should have done the Fuse pull or battery cable to reset the PCM after I put on my "Super" 40 Flowmaster and changed to the Ebay CAI too??

 

No, the battery cable thing will NOT reset the pcm. Do the fuse thing.

You don't need to reset for most mods. The PCM learns all the time.

Won't "Doing the fuse thing" throw a PCM Message code? If so, is there a way to clear the code without a reader?
