Aftermarket lights; recommendations like hella lights??
Just now thinking i need some aftermarket lights that sit behind the grill. I noticed some ppl have hella lights.
What models you recommend and how easy is the install; i'd like to thave some lights that i can switch on and off from the current cigarette lighter near the ash tray?
Any thoughts, what can i expect for costs?
TIA,
Boyd

I got my Hella 500's for $70. I have them mounted behind my grill. As far as putting them in all you should need is about an hour or so, its not really to hard. The lights come with a wire harness, you will just need to drill two holes, then there is a plate in the firewall that is for a clutch, i think, I just drilled a hole through that. The lights also come with a rocker switch that I hooked up through the power outlet at the bottom of the dashboard so they always have power to them even when the truck is off. I will take some more pic's of where I went through the firewall and where the rocker switch is mounted. Here is one pic for now.

You could easily "trigger" the new driving lights off the fog lamp relay, then wire in an idependent power line to the lights from the battery. The wiring harness you get should also have a relay with it for this. You could also trigger the relay "on" from a powered wire from the key switch, then when you turn off the key, the lights are off. Just don't run the power supply wire to the new lights from the power wire to the fogs. To much amperage draw, will definitely shorten the life of the bulbs, and bulbs won't run to full potential.
