Sometimes when I put mine in reverse it makes a loud knock noise just once, it has only done it about 2 times in the last year. I have never heard mine doing any clicking nosies though. Are you trying to put it in reverse as soon as you start the truck? It might be good to let it sit for a bit after you start it to get everything oiled up like it should be.

Check your tranny fluid levels. Too low or too high can make a clicking or growning noise. It happens more when the truck is cold and has been sitting over night. My 1998 did it.

Thanks guys. It does it every time I get to and from work. So the truck is warmed up. I'll check fluids in a few minutes

If its sounds like a buzzing noise that lasts about a second and a half it is totaly normal. Its the PCS or pressure control solenoid.

Yeah I notice my auto tranny does that too. But I had always thought it was normal?
