Default What i learned at dodge today

I took my ram in to get the alignment done on the front, due to the 2" spacers i put on. I deceded to ask some questions.

!- The rear calipers on the rams are slightly bigger than the front. This is standard on both 4x2 and 4x4. You can fit 17" rims, you just have to get the correct rim.

2- Mopar does make an alarm for the truck. its 169.00 and about 200.00+ to have it installed. Dodge has to reprogram your controller to work with it.

3- Any Mopar part you purchase and have installed by the dealership gets added to your factory warranty.

4- i read a post earlier, but cannot find it now, about needing to get shims when getting there alignment after installing the 2" spacers. I asked the tech this. His responce was probably not. If it was 3" or more, then you probably would have to. I did not need shims for my alignment.

5- If you ever want ot know what your truck is suppose to have on it from the factory and cannot find the window sticker, the parts dept can print it up for you!!!! It shows a bit more than what the window sticker does.

6- Last but not least.......i wish i woulda waited another month to get my truck. I just found my exact same truck on the lot for about 5 grand less than what i paid for it. Simply from this employee pricing thing. I am sad!!!!!

I installed the alarm myself. The directions that come with it are for an '05, so the disassembly of the dash below the radio is different (and much more difficult). The alarm module needs to be bolted to the metal brace below the steering collumn. These need to have holes drilled to do this, but there is no mention in the instructions... [:@]
Other than that, it's a straitforward job. I spent over 4 hours on it, but I was not in a hurry. I soldered all the splices as recommended, I doubt that a service tech would take the time, and instead use those crimp tap connectors.

One nice feature of the alarm is that it has two shock sensors that can be adjusted independently for sensitivity.
One is for the "warn away" honk for small bumps like shopping carts and dropping the tailgate. The other is for impacts/collisions where the alarm sounds continuously. The type/style of alarm sound is also selectible. The EVS is totally integrated to work with the existing Sentry Key/Remote Entry system. Programming is a little confusing as written, but not hard.

I installed the EVS I yesterday...when i did the test it appeared that everything was working except the vehicle wouldn't start. i held the programming switch for 10 seconds it honked 3 times, hit the switch again it honked 4 times...i could lock the doors, the lights stilled worked, but wouldn't start. i hope it is just something simple. am i missing a step? so, for now i disconnected the system from the ignition so i could drive it to work.

Not sure why it's not working.
Did you use two (2) keyfobs like it says in the instructions?
I would make sure both keyfobs will unlock the doors, then repeat the programming procedure.
I loaned my installation manual to a friend, so I can't look through it now...
Was there a technical helpline 800 number listed in the booklet?
Good luck.
