Default 2005 4.7 Stalling

anyone else have this problem? it happens when i am slowing down to make a turn or come to a stop. the rpm's drop really low then surge back up then down then it stalls. sometimes the truck just has an erratic slow speed idle but it doesn't stall. my truck only has 20000 miles on it and isn't even a year old and this just stated happening within the last few months. the last time it happened was over the weekend, i went to make a right turn in traffic and it stalled and i went straight instead of right. scarred the crap out of myself and some poor lady in the other lane as i drove straight towards her.

my 2005 started with the very low idle (or at least iI noticed it) when it had about 9000 miles. It will idle at just under 500 rpm
when in drive, at a stop. It only stalled on me once, when I was turning into a parking spot. The power steering went dead after it stalled, and I came damn close to hiting the car next to my future parking spot.

I took my truck to Dodge after that, and they told me that without a check engine light, or any stored codes, they couldn't do anything. All they had to do was put it in drive to realize something's not quite right.

anyway, at the top of this page here, click on "TSBs". there is something about the throttle valve there. I am going to a different dealer soon for my next oil change, and I'll see if I can get a little more help this time

i have the same truck and the same problem, i have just over 8000 miles on it and it's been happening for about the past 3 or 4 months. it will only happen when it's first started, it usually stalls at the first stop i have to make, then i restart it and i'm good to go. if anyone figures it out let me know.

I have not had this (or any other) issue with my 2005 1500, actually it has never been back to the dealer since I bought it last year. However, my '98 used to have a similar problem and it turned out that the connector to the transmission housing was loose and diring turns or over bumps would jiggle enough for the ECM to freak out and stall the truck. Someone here on the forum clued me into what to look for. You might want to see if the same thing is going on. If so, a tie wrap tight over the connector housing should keep it from getting loose.

Best of Luck,

-Luigi
