4:56 Gears, Shift Kits, High Stall Converter on a QC 4x4 5.7. Who's got em'? Results?
Okay, I have a 2005 QC 4x4 Hemi Ram 1500 like most of us hear. I am looking to increace my tow capacity to the 2500 standards. I was told by the dealer that the only difference between the 2500's and the 1500's are the springs, and the 4:10 grear. Yes they have a different axle w/ 8 lugs but That won't be necessary. I was wondering how people here liked their 4:56 gears on their 4x4's with the stock 20's or maybe 22's I'm thinking of getting new rims in maybe the 22" size but may only go up 1" on tires size. My ram is pretty quick for being a all around stock truck but I wish I could have a bit more "hole shot" Like most of us on here I can't break the tires loose on dry pavement short of brake torquing. Maybe this sounds childish but I have a 98 cobra that I have a blast in and lets face it. What is the fun of having a nice mean exhaust if you can't light em' up every once in a while. With stock hight wheels, can you light em up from a dead stop on dry pavement with out using the brake? Any 2nd gear chirp? With the 4:56 gears of course. Also, does anybody know and have any experience with a good Shift kit for our trans? Also how about a higher stall converter? If you know where to find them, can you tell me where and also if you have any experience having any of these components in your truck, please let me know how it all worked out for you. I would love not only be able to tow more but also be able to light em' up and chirp 2nd. My truck feels like it almost wants to do a 2nd chirp now. I have also heard that switching to the taller 4:56 gears nets a 1.5-2 MPG gain. Is this true? Better performance and better MPG's That would be awsome. Thanks

You were feed a bunch of Bull crap[sm=headbang.gif]. First of all the frames on the 2500 & 3500 are the same not the 1500 & 2500. The 2500/3500's have a heavy-duty built frame; have bigger rear ends and springs for them to be able to tow more.
Yes you can beef up the springs and change the gears so you can tow a bit more and easier then stock, but it will never be the same as a 2500 no matter what you do to it. The frame on a 1500 will never be able to handle what a 2500 can, plain and simple.
Sorry to burst your bubble.
