Default MMMM....loud performance

The muffler I ordered for my 03 hemi ram back a month ago is still out of stock (dynomax ultraflow welded series). Called in the other day to see if it came in stock yet, unfortunantly it wasn't. So they offered me the same muffler but 2 inches shorter...so I took that one and its in the mail now. And it was supposed to show up tomorrow, but then I went and rechecked my tracking number and now its not coming until next tuesday!! I dont mind waiting but I went and ripped out my muffler and the piping behind it. So now im running with nothing but the cats and its beastly loud haha. It sounds like an all out race car. A few of my friends have taken the exhaust off there cars just for the hell of it....and none of them ever sounded as bada$$ as my truck.
I noticed when I took it off my check engine light came on steady and blinked at times (which I think means check engine immediately). One of my friends tells me its nothing which im sure of cuz its probably a sensor noticing more airflow than normal or something. The light turned off after a few hours though. Hopefully the new muffler will sound good.
I also found (and bought) a cold air intake kit for my ram for $41!! Its one of those no name brands, but it looks decent and they have a good feedback. So I am getting that in on monday and hopefully it will work as nice as it looks. Heres a link to the CAI if anybody wants one for themselves!

Well my impatient grasshopper first off your check engine light is flashing due to your backpresure problem it will flash because it fluctuates so much. You need exhaust. Obvioulsy you are on a budget because dynomax is bottom of barrell you should have just gone out and bought some 16.00 glass packs at that rate. You will hear the sound but performance wise forget about it. I have seen strippers perform better. for you and anyone else do your research before you buy exhaust because just cause it's works on one manufacturer doesnt mean it will work on another. Second just cause a CAI looks good means squat. the big thing is will it truely keep the air transfer from the filter to the engine cool. Cause warm air entering your enigine does nadda. AIR Ram is what I would suggest it doesnt look pretty but it works. This is just an opinion and we all know what opinions are they are like *******'s everybody's got one. I hope this helps. Let us know your success rate.

not sure how true this is. a mechanic for 25 years told me this.. but without an exhaust, cold air is able to flow back into the motor when the engine is turned off and can warp the exhaust valves.. anyone know for sure????

I've heard of freezing the valves. Probably the same thing. If you take the concept of removing a glass cup from a hot dishwasher and running it under cold water I'm sure the results are very similar, if not identical.

hmm, at least the temperature here didnt drop below 50 yet...New muffler is going on tomorrow, and I had no idea dynomax was a bad product...I always heard of them being a good brand. And I guess with this CAI im getting...I better get some of that heat sheild stuff to protect the piping, that should help a little bit.
