Default GPs system questions

whats up guys i have had my 2006 dodge ram 1500 reg cab 4.7 v-6 for a month now and i still love it.
I want to put a gps system in it, but i don't know if i should just buy from the store. i also seen they have a gps that mounts on the dash above the radio. Or i could buy the one where it just mounts in where the raido is. I like to travel alot. i really want one. which would be the best choice or what do u have if u have a gps. Thanks for the info

Built in nav units(replace factory radio) generally have more features and tie into the vehicle
making them more accurate--However, installation is generally time consuming and
at times difficult--price range for a good brand name unit 1200-2500 roughly

Portable nav units ( dash mount or winsheild mount) less features and usually have a built in gps
ant. -- very occasionally these units may get lost while in use--the big positive with the portable
is you can use it in any vehicle. price range for brand name unit 400-1000 roughly

you really gotta consider what suit you best--if you have any intention of upgrading your audio
system in the future, kill 2 birds with 1 stone and go for built nav system

I have the Garmin Nuvi 350. It's so thin you can put it in your pocket. You can mount it to your dash or windshield with the included mounts. I also just ordered a mount that attaches to the air conditioning vents. It works extremely well and has never given me bad directions. The built in battery is a plus for switching to another car if you don't want to bring the cord. I'm very happy with it. The price is coming down also. I paid $579.00 for mine. Hope this helps.

I went out and bought a Garmin hand held E-Trax Legend along with the mounting base.
I installed it in the corner on the dash and it works really well. Whole thing was about $250.00
