2002 4.7 ltr auto tranny prob
All,
Tranny is slipping in reverse. Is this a common prob w/ the 4.7 ltr? Truck only has 62K miles. Already gone into the pan and replaced the filters and fluid. Lot of metal in the pan. Is there a simple solution or do I have to replace the tranny? My thought process is that if this is a recurring prob w/ dodge trannies, I don't want to put another tranny into it and have the same prob pop up in another 60K miles.
All help is greatly appreciated.

I have also have the 2002 4.7LTR V-8. Haven't noticed any problems with the tranny. Recently had the fluids changed Front and Rear Differential fluids, in addition to the Transfer case. Transmission fluid was changed two months ago.
I had to purchase the extended warranty 7/70K mile warranty. it cost me an additional $35.00 months. I think the whole thing came up to $1200.00 dollars. They give you a Gold colored type credit card, to present to the dealership when you encounter a problem with the vehicle. There is a $100.00 deductable. I have the 1-800 number if you need it. Hope this helps.

The only problems I've heard about are the electric servos that go bad in the 45RFE and 545RFE trannies. They usually pop a CEL code. I think I've only heard of 2 trannies being rebuilt here and those were around the 50-60K mile mark.
