Resonator Question
I want to make sure that when my Cat-Back system was installed on my 05' 1500 that the resonators were removed but to be honest Im not 100% what they look like or where exactly they would be. Does anyone know where or what to check for to see if they were removed?
Not sure on the 05 but on my 06 what you have is: after the catalitic converters there is a "Y" piece where you first have a resonator then a very large muffler and then another resonator at the tailpipe area. For the cat back system they usually leave the first resonator at the "Y" in and remove then muffler and resonator at the tailpipe.
Well first off does anyone know if the 05's have 2 resonators?
Secondly, If one of the resonaters was left off what would taking it off do? Would it just make it louder? would it add any extra HP? any extra mileage? anything?
Third could anyone post a pic of what they look like? I dont ever remeber seeing a small looking muffler under my truck even when it was stock.

i believe they started using 2 resonators in 06. in 05 they only had the one at the end of the exhaust.
If u start from the tailpipe tip and follow the pipe back towards the muffler...u should see the resonantor about 2 to 3 feet back from the tailpipe tip. looks like a small muffler, about the size of the cats.
and it would not add any hp...only sound!
