Default Nerf or Hoop?

I'm trying to decide between installing nerf bars or the Carr Super Hoops/Hoop IIs on a Q-Cab 4x4. I want something that can actually be used to step up into the cab as my wife and daughter are having a tough time. The truck is a stock 2500. I have seen the factory nerf bars and they seem to be too close to the body to be practical. Does anyone have the Carrs? Any other suggestions?

if it's purpose is to help them in, get a hoop. if you do that though watch where you go off road because you may lose them.

The factory bars aren't adjustable I take it?

I have MAAP Challenger side steps on my truck. They're a discontinued model, but they are adjustable steps. I have them adjusted up as high and as close to the body as I could get them. My point is, you might want to find a step that has adjustable brackets.

Or alternatively, look into some of those electric steps that fold out when you open the door. I believe they are adjustable to lower heights, but would stow away when the vehicle is parked/in motion.

I put the 10" hoops on mine and I really like them. They are adjustable and very easy to put them on. I ordered them off ebay for $30 and $11 for shipping for my first set. I just got my 2nd set and will be putting them on this weekend. They do look nice, plus you save a lot of money over the bars. You could pay a little more and get the 20" steps also.

I bought the nerfs from the dealer and installed them. They do fit close to the body, but do work well - I use 'em all the time. Getting in is easier if you use the 'handles' built in inside and then step up on the bar and into the truck. Only thing I didn't like was the price and the self install was challenging.
