Default Mud in the Engine compartment....

Would mud in the engine compartment set off the check engine light?

it shouldn't. my 98 ram is on 33's so when it rains i take that thing out and trash it. at some points in time my engine looked like a mud clod but the check engine light never came on. now i won't be able to answer that question with my 06 being that it's a pavement pounder.

If you get water in the computer connection it could give a light,pull the plug and dry with compressed air,the stuff for cleaning computers works well,when all is good and dry,pull the battery cable,wait a couple of minutes,replace cable and start the engine,it may run rough untill the computer paramiters are reset,hopefully,your light will go out!
