GUAGES DON'T WORK "NO BUS"
Hi all! This is my first post, I just recently got an '03 2500 v10 from my parents and there is a sparatic problem with the guages. The odometer says "no bus" I did try the search but could'nt find a post with my specific problem. The truck cranks, runs, and drives normal but none of the guages work any idea what I should look for? Any help is apprecicated.
I had a 1999 2500 with a v10 and the same happened to me. I was driving along then all of asudden all the guages stopped working. i never found out what was wrong. i traded it in for a new truck. i had about 40k miles on it.
I have a 2000 Ram 1500 that had the same problem. For me in the Electrical Power Distribution Center ( The fusebox located in the engine compartment ) I have one big connector with a screw down through it that loosens or tightens the connection. Wellfor some reasonthat connector wasn't making good contact with at least one or 2 of the pins.I took that off, cleaned it up, and put it back on and everything worked fine. I'm going to clean it better with contactcleaner and coat it with some dielectric grease and see if it stands the test of time. From what I've gathered from many peoples posts is that this specific problemgenerally seems to be some kind of electrical contact problem and not the Computer or any other major part.
Thanks for the post! I had the exact same problem with my 99 Ram 1500 pickup and followed your steps exactly. I didn't really even see anything to clean on the contacts, so I just plugged it back in and all gauges work now!
