battery drain need help
here is my problem I have a 04 1500 with a 4.7 when I let the truck set for about 3 days the battery goes dead. I checked for a drain with a test light and when I pulled the Cluster/radio fuse the light went out showing that was the fuse with the problem. So this is were I get confuesd I disconnected the radio the drain was still there then I removed the cluster pulled the first hariness out drain is still there then I removed the second drain is still there when I removed the big hariness the drain was gone. after I reinstalled everything I pulled the cluster/radio fuse again and noticed that the dome lights are out, plugged it back in they go on. I am not sure if it is the cluster it cost a lot of money and my truck will be down for a few because they have to send it out to reprogram the new one. should the dome light go out when I pull that fuse is it on the same circuit. Am I correct by saying it is the cluster that is causeing the drain.
the battery light is not on.And after I jump it and drive it for awhile the truck starts.I also had my charging system checked at SEARS and it tested ok but they tested a drain also and they cant tell me what it is
Yeah.. I have the same problem on my 2004 5.7 SLT. Took it to 2 auto electronic specialist companies and they couldnt trace where the drain on the battery originates although they say that the drain is variable and not constant. It might happen twice in one week and then not again for a month or so. Ive had the vehicle for 12 months now and have learned to live with it. Not having a Dodge dealership here in the UK who might have specialist Dodge equipment I dont know what else to do. If anyone has had and cured this problem, then any advice is welcomed.
