Default question about trip computer

Is it possible to get 23 mpg on the hwy? I have a 1500 hemi, RC, SB, and a Banks Monster Exhaust. the trip computer tells me I'm getting 21-23 mpg aveage on the hwy and about 12-15 average in the city. I've read all the threads about mileage and saw them some people get about 20. Does the Banks exhaust help? I'm guessing the trip computer is not correct. Is this something that can be corrected?

Do you mean the Avg MPG or the trip odometer? I have found that the avg MPG usually reads on the optomistic side. Yes, 20mpg can be seen on a relatively flat, slow (65 and under), cruise controlled ride on the regular trucks, definitely on the MDS trucks.

Actually, you can 20mpg in a QCSB non-MDS Hemi if the conditions are right. I know because I've done it. I don't think I'll ever be able to do it again however. I had a fairly strong tailwind from Des Moines to Chicago, with no passengers, cruise set about 68mph, and got 20.7 (pencil and paper math, not the overhead). The overhead computer is not as accurate, it is optomistic, as I would like but does put you in the ballpark. I don't think it can be corrected, at least I've never heard anybody brag about fixing it.

my overhead MPG calculator is normally about 1.5 miles per gallon better than I am actually getting. I monitor that religiously and do pen and paper math every fill up.
