I just tapped into a 12V source in the A-Pillar. It makes the gauge light up when ever the key is on (during the day) but doesn't really matter. This way all I had to do was hook up the 12V, ground, and source. I grounded mine right to the A-Pillar frame. The only wire I had to run under the dash was to the temp sender. I've had mine hooked up all summer and it works great.

I don't remember the color of the wire. I just probed around until I found a wire that had power with the key only. I got my transmission and differential pans from PML. www.yourcovers.com
