That happened to one of friends. Some girl plowed into his RSX that WAS completely modded. It was a total loss. I'm afraid that if that was me in either case I would have calling Guido saying...'I maka you a offa you canta refuse'

well I finally got my truck back last night, and the body work done was amazing. It looks the same as the day I drove it off the lot. Only downside is for some reason the caster was permanently knocked out of spec, it can't be adjusted back into the right position. So I'm happy to have my truck back, but I'm definitely dumping it when the lease is up.

I know you got your truck back and I know you must be itching to get back behind the wheel but..................that ain't right to accept that the castor cannot be adjusted.
Here are 5 reasons why you shouldn't acccept it back.

Castor :-
1 Maximise tyre contact patch during roll
2 Improve turn-in response
3 Increase directional stability
4 Maximise tyre contact patch during braking and acceleration
5 Improved steering feel and self-centre
6 Increases dynamic negative camber (on turn)

Have a look and Google about Castor and why it's important.

But, if your willing to forgo all that.......................????
Get your truck sorted and say it's not acceptable until everything is put back to the way it was before the accident!
After all.............IT WASN'T YOUR FAULT !!!!!

Hate to see the truck like that, but at least you are ok. Are they giving you a rental at there expense while repairs are being done? Even if you have another car you should make them give you a rental. Why put milage on your vehicle when they are at fault.

General Advice for all: When I drove truck, they had us carry one of those cardboardboard throw away cameras as part of our accident kit. I have carried one in all my vehicles since. They also had a check list of information to aquire. I made one of those up just in case too. In the heat of the moment sometimes you forget to ask the most simple or obvious questions.

I do something similar gordo24fan, in that I always carry my mobile phone and use both the still picture and video modes to capture the guilty parties.

It rides fine now, and the castor is only off about .75 degrees from specifications. I would rather just say screw it then have my truck taken apart and undriveable for another 2-4 weeks while they try to find what happened. I did get a rental from enterprise and her insurance did pay. I work at the place where they did the alignment, and two techs were working on it. They adjusted it as far as the could to try to get it into spec. Both castors are about the same now though, and I figure .75 degrees won't be enough to cause me any trouble for the next 3 years before I dump it. The technicians who I am friends with said essentially the wheel won't return to center as quickly. I can handle that, and I haven't noticed it being any slower or faster.
