Default gears; again

I've read all these posts about gearing our rams and how beneficial it can be, and i am almost convinced.
Just wondering where you guys are buying your gears (front and rear), and whether 4.10 or 4.56.
I also want to know @ 60mph, what rpm are you running with these two setups.
I currently have a rc 4x4 hemi with 3.55's and 33 inch pro comps.

thanks,

Matt williams

There is a formula for figuring out what RPM your engine will be with the tire size and gears you want. I don't have it on hand, but you could do a search, because someone gave it to me in a past post a few months ago. With 33's and 4.56 gears, your rpm's will only be 300 to 400 rpm higher @70mph. I have 3.55's with the stock 17's. In a few weeks I'll installing 4.56 gears with 325/65R18 tires, so it will probably won't change my RPM much at all. I take my expericence from riding in a few powerwagons. The powerwagons have 4.56 gears with 33" tires, and at 70mph the RPM is near 2300RPM, which is only 400RPM hogher than my truck now. The gears will make the RPM raise, and the larger tires will make the RPM's lower, so I figure they will cancel each other out to some extent. Do a search and you will find a lot of good info on here. There has been many posts about gears & tires and such. Hope this helps.

I just got off the phone from ordering my gears and locker. I bought them from 4wheelparts because they are dependable and are usually on par with everyone else's prices. The out the door price was $959.98 for front and rear gears, install kits, and rear Detroit TrueTrac. Here are some separate prices; the total was lower because when you buy a package they discount it a bit. Front gears with install kit was $304. Rear gears with install kit was $298. The Detroit TrueTrac was $489. The cheapest I found the Locker was $479 on ebay, and they wanted $15 for shipping. 4 wheelparts is shipping all of it for free too. I figure I got a good price for all of it. I have been looking for a while now, and have not found anything much cheaper. As far as I know the gears are usually the same price for any ratio. I'm planning on doing the install myself.
