Default Loud Turn Signals

It is my understanding that the turn signal (blinkers) sound coming from the PCM behind the instrument cluster is a computer generated sound. If this is the case, does any one know how to make the turn signals quieter or completly turn off the turn signal sound?

IF and I stress if because I don't know if this is the case. If it is a small speaker causing the sound, you could try disconnecting the speaker to shut it off, or place a resistor inline to lower the juice going to the speaker, thus quieting it down.

I finally shut that loud turn signal / flasher noiseoff (completely off). The noise maker is a small black relay which is approx. 1/2" x 1/2" x 1/2"that is located behind the upper right hand face (passenger side) of the instrument cluster. This is how I did it; however, only attempt this if you are comfortable working with electronics. First, disconnect the cars battery. Next, you will need tocompletely remove the instrument cluster. To do this, you will need to remove the dash trim around the radio, under the steering wheel and to the left of the steering wheel. There are three (3) wiring harness plugs behind the instrument cluster that need to be unplugged. Once you have unpluggedthe wiring harness, completely remove the instrument cluster from the vehicle.

Place the instrument cluster face down to give you access to the back. Remove theapprox. 20 torx screws that hold down the black back cover of the instrument cluster. Locate the small black relay which is behind the curcuit board. To do this you will need to look at the side of the unit. Once located, unsoldier the five (5) leads that hold the relay to the curcuit board. Put it all back together and you will have peace and quick in your truck.

I performed this on my 2006 Ram Quad Cab as indicated above.

Note: On a 2005 Ram Quad Cab there is one additional torx screw behind the RF module on the center of the back of the instrument cluster. You will need to take off the RF module to gain access to the torx screw behind it.

Good Luck!!!
