I have a 2006 Power Wagon with Sentry Key. It uses a combination key/fob, black with three-buttons. I would like to get one or two additional fobs. I already have two, so if I read my owners manual correctly, I should be able to program the new ones myself. Does anyone know where I can get these besides through the stealership?

 

you can get the keys from a guy on E-bay, Blanks in fact...I bought one for like 35 bucks...1/8 of what the dealer wanted..can't remember the guys name though, but I'll try to find it......here's the kicker...the dealers can't cut the keys, you'll need to take it to a locksmith or Home Depot, they have the double sided 10 pin key cutters. Then you have to take it to the dealer to get it programmed....the 05's you could program I think, but the 06's are different. I tried doing what was in the manual and it reset everything and I had to tow my truck to the dealer to get it reset. Then they tried to do it the way the manual said and guess what....same thing! My buddy who works there tried to program his and the same happened, he thinks DC just didn't take it out when the reprinted the 05 manual for 06, or maybe both our trucks have some programming issue. Your dealer hopefully will have a good service writer and they'll do it for free...it only takes like 10 mins for them to hook your truck up and program the key...Good luck

 

I have a 2006 qc with the Sentry system. I am also a locksmith in Oregon for one of the biggest companies that deals with auto locks. I just programmed meyself a extra regular key without the remote part, and the only thing different than the owners manual is instead of the "security light flashing" it was the "engine light" that was flashing.

The 2006 PT Cruiser, Dodge Caliber, and the ram are totally different than other sentry systems.

I will have the remote key fob within the week. And will post my findings then on the programming. The previous post was part right except that Some locksmiths can program the remote and key as well as cut the key.

I dont know what ebay is doing but sometimes they are a good deal. make sure its for a 2006 because they are a different key than the 2005.

You can program your own key it's in the manual I just did it myself .

 

I'm guessing that either me, my truck or the guys at the dealership were all doing it wrong then...hell I tried three times, towed the truck to the dealer, they reset it all, then tried also, same thing....just glad they fixed it all for free...gotta love my service department!
