Why don't you just test drive both and go from there? The 4.7 is fine although it is a lot better after a gear swap. Obviously the Hemi has more power but it's really just personal preference. I have had no problems with the 4.7 other than a 5000 +or- lbs travel trailer going up hill. The 4.7 petered out quickly. The gear swap help that situation.

Good question.. A test drive will let you know which one you should get. For around town driving, depending on your driving manners, the 4.7 gets a lot beter mileage at least between my truck and my brothers truck. He has a new 06 Hemi, and mine is an 03 4.7... With my truck lifted, I get about 13.2 avg around town, and can see about 17 on the highway.. In his Hemi, he see's about 11.2 avg around town, but a remarkable 21mpg on the highway, not bad for a full size truck.. As for power, obviously his truck will stomp all over mine, but the 4.7 has plenty of power for me. I tow a 28ft. travel trailor with it weighing in at about 6600lbs. and I have gone a ton of places, a gear swap makes a huge difference.

yes i agree i will be test driving them both but in the past i have got something i thought i liked after test diving it even for the weekend to only be disappointed after a few weeks.
my main thing here is i wont the best and strongest motor. but if the hemi is just overrated i would go for the cheaper motor and be happy. that's why i wanted some of your thoughts since you have had them far longer then i would be able to test dive them. gas mileage is no concern since i only dive about 200 mile every 2-3 weeks. i wont be doing any towing or anything like that, but i do wont to be able to stomp on the gas a feel something. my 01 make a lot of noise and sounds pretty bad, but the power just isn't there anymore.
well thanks for all the reply's everyone.

I have a 05 QC with the 4.7L, and I tow a 3000+LB 24 ft. boat.
......Get the Hemi.........
The 4.7L tows ok but really works hard on the hills. 9 mpg while towing! I think I will need a gear swap.

All the aftermarket goodies are for the Hemi and CTD.
