hi from MN
I haven't purchased a dodge yet, this would be my first dodge ever unless you want to count a 2g eclipse wtih the 420a motor in it a dodge, anyway, i'm looking at a 2002 dodge ram 1500 4x4 extended cab and was wondering what to look out for.
In 2002 they don't have an extended cab in the 1500 model.. It's quad cab and regular cab only. What engine/trans set up are you going with. In 2002 they have the 4.7L Magnum and the 5.9L magnum engines accompanied by Chrystlers 4spd. auto tranny.(not sure if the hemi was an option in 02) OR you have the optional 6spd. Manual tranny.. Look for gear ratio's you'll want the factory 3.90 gear ratio as opposed to the 3.55 which are terrible in our trucks. Let us know what your plan is...
yah, the 5.7 wasnt an option untill 2003...personally i'd go with the 5.9 and the 3.92 gears...the 4.7 isnt bad if you get the 3.92 gears, but no way would i buy a 4.7 over a 5.9 any day of the week...as for transmission, personally i think it's what you prefer, the 545RFE is pretty stout, but then again not as much fun as a manny...just my $.02 worth
