This is my final answer (I think)
Ok guys, after much debate and studying tell me what you guys think. I have the 1500 QC Night Runner 4x4. I have been trying to decide what to do with the exhaust. I think this is what I'm going to do, its actually what the muffler guy down the road has suggested, so if you see anything not right please let me know.
He said you can't do anything from the Cat forward. So having a true dual "IN" to the cat would cause a bunch of warranty issues and throw codes due to the co2 sensor. What I was really wanting was a dual exhaust. I thought the best way would be dual IN dual OUT but apparantly thats a lot more money than it would ever be worth. So he suggested, it already has a single 3 or 2 1/2 into the cat. He suggested a single 2 1/2 or 2 1/4 out of the cat with 2 three inch pipes out of the muffler (flowmaster 40 series). Then I found these black stainless steel tips that would look killer to the Night Runner theme. The ones he's trying to sell me are 4" round and 12" long. I'm gonna run the duals straight out the back, about 4 feet apart centered on the hitch. My first impression is that the 4" will be too big and look funky. Not sure what to do there.
Then I got a K&N air filter he's going to do as well. Here's the break down for my 06 truck moneywise.
Exhaust-280$
Tips-80-100$
Filter-335
tax-60$
Rough numbers but I think it came out to like 719$ for everything installed. I plan on doing it next week unless this raises some eyebrows and people have some concerns.
A regular Midas type shop was telling me they could do true dual all the way for like 700$ but I'm not sure if they mean the same thing this guy is doing or they actually do dual in dual out. I don't see how they can do that without adding another cat and then reprogramming the entire truck then voiding my warranty. Shoot me some responses, I'll post pics a little later with some of the cosmetic mods I've done to a night runner.

thats kind of what my exhaust is like. its got 3in going to the cat and then 2.5in going to the mufller but then its got dual 2in leaving the muffler. not sure what kind of muffler it is tho.
I don't know where you live T but here in Northern Delaware there is a place called Rayco They sell a muffler that look and sounds like a flowmaster and it's made in tenn. I had them put that on my 04 Quad Cab 4x4 ThunderRoad. The sound is great they put on two chrome tips unstalled the muffler ,and new pipes ,everything came out to $396.00 that's everything. So as you can see there price is a lot cheaper. I'd say shop around ,There has to be a better price. The name reslly doesn't matter anyway. As for that K?N filter That's pretty high. You can get a drop in for $60.00 Does the same t5hink as the chrome one and you won't uhave problems with the rubber grouments ,They rot over time and cause air leaks .I had a Air Fioorce one on myPT and it caused me a lot of problems so I went back to the stock air filter box.
I would definately go with a pre fabbed (Borla, Flowmaster...) cat back that has Dyno trial and error runs before I let this guy fab something up, I can see why you might not want to go with the extra expense on a true dual but the money your spending you can get something you can trust. If instalation is a problem bring it by I'll help you out. Well ok thats a big drive but surely someone in Seattle will hook you up. Or do they not know what southern hospitaliy is all about? As for the filter I agree with Silver. I have the $60 drop in and don't se where I would get $300 worth of improvement out of any CAI vs my drop in. A true through the hood ram air maybe, but on something no more modified then you'll have save the cash unless it makes you feel better to say you have a CAI cause thats all you'll get.
Stroker. I don't really understand your post. Whats different about the kit your talking about as opposed to what I'm suggesting on doing? If you got time, I'd like to speak with you over the phone or on instant message. Let me know. Thanks.
First off, $300 plus is ridiculous for a CAI. I paid $60 (shipped) for the one off of ebay, and its stainless, so it looks good, and performs the same as a high dollar K&N brand. Here's my exhaust break down...
Muffler $90 (50 series flowmaster)
Tips $45 each (stainless flowmaster)
Dual pipes bent and installed $140
Sounds like your getting taken to me.

This is a good exhaust definately worth the extra $50 from that exhaust shops. This is a bolt on kit. Can you change your oil? If you answered yes and you have a basic tool set then you CAN install this kit. If your a little scared post up here and maybe on some other sites to find some local help. Tell them you'll bring the beer and surely you'll get some southern hospitality. In my opinion the next step up would be the Corsa exhaust which will run you close to a grand and if your willing to spend that then you should go with a true dual setup anyway.
