Babying the gas pedal or driving more aggressively. Not much MPG difference.

The thing that I find is that anytime I punch the gas on the highway, I never get back to my average mpg before the WOT. For instance, lets say I'm taking a trip of 100 miles. In the first 50 miles I'm averaging about 18.5 to 19 mpg (at 75mph). If for some reason I have to hit the throttle to get around a vehicle in front of me, I'll never get the averge fuel economy back above 18mpg. After the throttle punch, it always stays in the mid 17mpg range. Kind of funny, I guess it takes a good amount of gas to move that truck down the road.

if you watch the eco thing itll drop down to like 2-4 mpg and that will eat your average like no ones buissness.

just bought a 4.7 2wd and my average mpg shows either 13.7 or 13.8. all I do is highway driving. (70-80mph) this can't be right?

hand calculate it. take the amount of miels you have racked up since your last fill up, and then divide by the amount of gas you put back into your baby.

Whew I hope not, last week I got 16.4mpg on the way home about 190miles and my truck has 35" tires combined with a 3.55 gear ratio... Terrible combination.
