Default Brake problem 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

Purchased new 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 in Dec 05. Every 8-9 thousand miles have problem. When light braking @ highway speed truck begins to shake violently, even worse when going into a curve. Starts around 60-70 mph but gets progresively worse. Dodge dealership resurfaced rotors @ 9,000, 17,000, 25,000, & 36,000 miles at no cost to me. Said was caused by driver abuse or driving thru water neither of which is the case. Back in shop this week @ 43,000 miles. I am not a mechanic and driver abuse is not the problem. Dodge regional rep is looking at car. I can not afford to pay for a brake job every 9,000 miles! Any suggestions as to what could be causing this problem?

I am having the same problem with my brakes on my 2006 Ram 1500. It's only got about 28,000 miles on it. At freeway speeds, the brakes shake the steering wheel violently. I took it in to be inspected and I was told the piston needed to be replaced and the caliper needed to be rebuilt. The guys told me I shouldn't be having any problems this early on. The brake pads were still pretty thick. I was told that the brake is no longer opening up to let the rotor cool. The caliper piston is holding the pad against the rotor enough to get hot, but not enough to feel it braking. This is causing the rotor to be warped from high temperatures. Physically, the front brake pads are chipping and the front rotors have deep lines cut parallel into the rotor. They said the cost to repair it is $713.00. Can anyone else shed some light on this subject?

Keep getting the new rotors under warranty until that runs out, then get some Power Slots and ceramic pads and you won't have to deal with it anymore. The 1500's are known for having really cheap rotors. You are definitely not alone here. there have been many others who have been through it also.

my truck has 24,000 miles and i have already re surfaced my rotors once because it was shaking really bad at highway speed breaking. it hasnt been doing it any more though, at least not that bad anyway. i wonder if its a widespread problem and if there should be a recall on the brakes?? i know i had to have my front wheel bearings replaced because of a recall.

Maybe the rotors werent made to have 20's. When I had the 17's I was fine. Now the 20's, I think my rotors are warped cause the same thing happens to me.

Haven't had any problems on my 2007 Ram 1500ST, but the last new dodge truck I bought, a 96 RamWagon 2500 needed pads and rotors early, like below 20k miles.

I guess it is time to get decent pads and rotors and make sure the calipers are retracting fully, my 94 Plymouth Voyager had trouble with grunge build up on the calipers and went through cheap front pads FAST.

He guys check the recall list. On the one shown to the left, the ABS mod was replaces under a recall or TSB cant remember. There is also an important tranny reflash needed on the 06's which was also performed on mine.
