weight of spare tire?
Dang! I did not know the 20" spare weighed that much. No wonder why my RCSB weighs 5200lbs. I need to remove the spare, bumper, tow package, tonneau cover, subs/amps, etc. to lighten it up a bit, lol.
I don't care so much about the weight of the tire,But it's location, Have you ever tried to get one down when needed. What a job. The tire feels like it weighs a ton. I wonder if Chrysler will ever
engineer that location any better. If I could put it some place where it were easier to use and not have it stolen ,I'd put in a sunken wheel well in the center rear of the bed. with a removeable cover so it won't mess up the trucks bed. .I know that would mean someone form Chrysler would have to think.

My tire+wheel weighs at least 80lbs. now that I switched to 34" tall 305/70-R17 mud tires. I know the Goodyear tires weigh 65lbs. by themselves. I'm not sure which is heavier, the steel spare or the forged Aluminum wheels.
I'd rather winch it up to it's under-bed location, than have to lift it up into the bed any day.

I don't really care for laying on the cold ground trying to more a heavy tire on and off a tire rake. Much to hard. I saw one truck ,can't remember which one now where the tire was behind the bumper. You just removed a pin or two ,the bumper opened up in the front and the tire slid out .It was under the bed but above the trailer hitch. . At 65 I'll let AAA take care of my tire problems.
I put my spare on a bathroom scale the other day while I had it off because it had to be more than 80lbs.
Scale read 105! [:@]
Remeasuredwith steel wheel before changing to Forged Alum. 110lbs. After = 90lbs. [sm=smiley4.gif]

Last week I weighed mine, so I would know how much more I'd be turning when I get my new 35's. I have the stock 17" steel rims. The spare tire/wheel weighed in at exactly 70lbs. And the scale is calibrated yearly here at work, so I know it is accurate.
