02 RAM 1500 HEADLIGHT OUT
Hi guys,
My passenger headlight is out on low beams. Replaced it but still nothing, took it to the shop and they say somethings fried in the fuse box and it needs a new one 300$ plus labor. I call the local salvage and they have one for 75$, but the shops says it wont work that it has to be a new one. Anyone knw if theres any truth to this? Or is there anyway to fix the old fuse box? local shop says its all intrgrated and theres nothing you can do with it.
TIA

If it's out of the same kind of truck, then personally, I'd say they're fulla ****. That pisses me off that those bastards do that. If I were you, I'd buy the scrap yard one and install it myself. The electrical system really isn't that hard to work on. Puts them out the money too, which is always a good thing when they're like that. $0.02
Pull the fuse for your headlamps out and check it to make sure its good also look around for anything that looks burnt or like it shorted, you'll be able to tell. My sister fell for something like this in her chevy, she paid over $250 at MIDAS for them to look at her tail lights and replace a fuse. They claimed the whole box needed to be removed too and charged her for the new box but left the old one in, I had a long talk with the manager at the shop and his boss too who fired him on the spot cause it wasn't his first time doing it to someone. I'd say do it your self but if it does require replacing the box be very very carefull to note exactly how everything went together and take a few pictures to help out as well, you really really do not want to mix any wires or fuses up cause that can lead to alot of costly repairs.
