2004 Hemi Engine noise
I recently purchased a 2004 Ram 1500 with a hemi. The engine seems to have a noise coming from the front of the engine that sounds like a light grinding noise or a failing bearing on a pump or alternator. Has anyone experienced any problems like this on their hemi's? The truck has a little over 30K miles on it. Thanks, Chris
I dont know if you are hearing a "tick", if its like a grinding bearing sound from the front of the motor... it could be the alternator... I was stupid and rinsed my motor with my pressure washer. I think water got on the bearings. I hope I dont have to replace it. This could be your noise also.
Mine is an 04 with v6. It also makes a noise similar to what you are describing. It is the PS pump on mine. I sprayed some belt dressing near the pump, the pulley stopped, and the pump stopped momentarily. I'm just going to keep on driving it, while checking the level frequently. Hope this helps.
my dads 2001 v 10 did the same thing for a couple of days thn it got relly bad then one of the idler wheels just melted barings in all i dident relly like changing it out in a parking lot at -20 but it was a quick fix
