ticking sound

Default ticking sound

whats the sound when i shut off my truck i get these ticking sounds and now i noticed also when i drive it

Dodge ram 1500 5.7 hemi

Its the exhaust system cooling down, hot metal expands when hot and contracts when cooling down. Most cars do it, you never noticed? Nothing to worry about

Because the hot exaust is hitting cold metal and starts to heat up the exaust system. Same thing as when it cools its just trying to expand quicker then the metal will allow.
