Hey guys, just curious if everyone has this problem... I have a 4.7 litre.. 2002. Noise goes away after couple of mins. I'm guessing the hydro lifters are making that noise. Also what do you think about synthetic for this truck?

 

I am switching to synthetic when I change my oil today. my truck has 6500 miles on it. Mine dont do it but over on the 3rd gen dakota forum there are alot of guys over there that complain about lifter noise

How many miles on your truck? What kind and how often do you change the oil?

 

2002 Ram reg cab shortbox sport. 4.7 L... 75000 miles, I've been using coventional oil 5w for awhile and finnaly changed over to synthetic. 5w Mobil1. I used to change my oil every 2000 miles... I am good to it.

 

It's been my experience that synthetic oils will make any noises (lifter, piston slap, rod play, ect.) worst.
