Default 3500 Q's

1. Ok, I'm doing the build and price thing on dodge.com and for some rear I can't get a single rear wheel in the 2006 3500 with the cummins and 4speed auto, my questions is a 3500 available with a single rear wheel.

2. Also, is the 4-speed automatic transmission the allison transmission??? the reason I ask is because i've been told a ram with the cummins and the allison transmission is an indestructable combo...

3. what do you guys suggest, i'm going to be using this truck to pull a "race car" trailer half the time and the other half the time a 3 car trailer with 2-3 cars on it at a time... What do you guys suggest for what i should buy??? but keep in mind that this well also be my daily driver... Thanks guys... Looking forward to your responses

4. I read the MPG sticky, but what about with a chip, and unpgraded intake and exhaust???

Hey Devile, I am also in the market for the same truck...3500, QC, 4x4, Laramie, SRW, etc. Under the subject heading of "ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT GROUPS ," there is a box that says "Single Rear Wheel Group $0.0." I think the Mega Cab 3500 may default to dual-rear wheels on the website, so you may need to de-select if spec'ing a Mega Cab.

This configuration will meet all your needs. Some may even argue that a 2500 is fine, and that the only difference is rear helper springs. However, I am a strong believer in over-engineering my purchase decision. Which is why I will be ordering mine with 4.10 gears and rear-side airbags. A combination I can never seem to find on the lots. Plus, having a short-wheelbase truck with 3500 emblazoned on the side is a great conversation piece.

If this is going to be a daily driver, I think the quad cab is an excellent decision. I have 3 kids, and many on this forum have suggested the Mega Cab. However, out here in the suburbs of California it represents quite a challenge for everyday driving.

Oh, forgot your other question: The answer is No, the 4-speed is not an Allison. The Allison tranny is part of the offering from GMC and Chevy. Goes with the Duramax diesel.

Ok thanks for all your help... However, i have heard problems with automatic transmissions with the fords, having to be rebuilt every 100,000 or so k. Are there similar probelms with the dodge. My biggest reasonfrom going dodge instead of ford is because of the cummins, 1. it's a well known engine, 2. it's inline, easier to work on. Why are you going 4.10's as i hear it is much worse on fuel with 4.10's
