Default cruise control

Got my first ever dodge ram 2500 a few months back. I like every thing about the truck except one thing. When I turn the cruise on, the cruise light comes on and I have not set a speed. Every other Vehicle that I had the cruise light came on when you set a speed and the light went out when you tap the brake or shut off the cruise to let you know you are in charge of the speed again. is there a dealer setting that I can have done to change this?

The cruise light on tells you just that. The system is armed. If you press set or accel the system will engage. I have never seen a vehicle that didn't operate just like the ram. Light on when system is on. Why would you want it the other way around. When you hit the brake, the system dis-engages, it doesn't turn it off.

My dads F250 cruise control is exactly the same as the Ram. Light comes on when you turn it on... That's how it is.

it's kind of dangerous having cruise set above 85 anyways because you should be on your toes at that speed. (i do agree though, it would be fun to have cruise set at 130 )

I know what he is saying though. My dads old 03 Suburban was like how he said... there was an on switch, but the light wouldn't turn on till the cruise was engaged. I think all new model cars are the same was with the cruise now.
but what sucks sometimes is having the cruise set with a manual tranny... I rarly set my cruise unless it is a strait roads and little winds.(which by then I do about 90 anyway since you can look for cops The police radar I bought sure was worth it... Although I still got a ticket [:'(]

the dodge cruise does suck. it is super nice on the chevy that the indicator only comes on when the cruise is actually in use. this lets you know that you are on cruise and that it is off when you hit the brake.

also, on a chevy the min speed is 25, this is really nice. does anyone know if the min speed can be adjsuted by the dealer?

also, some puckups can controll the idle in park, how do i get this feature to work?
